- It was developed by V.B Patel, Chairman of the Horticulture Department at the Bihar Agriculture University (BAU), Sabour in 1992.
- With a very small and thin seed, it has way more pulp than the typical mangoes.
- In a typical mango, the seed can be 15 to 30% of its total weight, but the Sindhu seed is less than 10% of the total weight, thereby acquiring the name “Seedless Mango”
